The MOON is a hard one to explain. Remember or imagine a dream state where you weren't sure what was real and what was illusion. Remember or imagine waking up hovered just above your body, or with the feeling of being paralyzed. Remember or imagine a bad hallucinagenic trip where all of your inner demons decided to expose themselves. Or simply remember a time when your emotions and thoughts could not be separated and they got the best of you.
The Moon reveals or pulls on our shadows. The parts of us that most of us don't reveal to the world or even to ourselves on a daily basis. The Moon has an affect on the tides of the ocean, so imagine what affect it has on our bodies made up of mostly water. That is why personal awareness is so important in relation to this card. Rather than running from or avoiding our shadows, the Moon calls on us to become familiar and even cozy with those shadow parts of ourselves. Awareness helps us be more curious and less reactive to all that is revealed. When we can see and accept what our demons and delusions are, we can work to heal the wounds that keep them around. When we avoid them or over identify with them, we are overtaken by them and can lose touch with reality, or what is truly happening in the moment.
The Moon may also come up during a time when our dreams are strong and have something important to say to us. Honest self reflection is the lesson here.
